About Me, Kate E. :)

My coworker, Emma, and I at Details and Goods in Osterville, MA

My name is Katie Howard-Johnson. I attend the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. I am studying Financial Economics, which seemingly does not relate with this blog, I know.

Me in ACK for the
day working at the Ellie Kai
location on South Wharf
Two summers ago I started working at Ellie Kai and continued working there this summer. Ellie Kai is a start up fashion company of #madeforyou clothing founded in Osterville, MA. They do trunk shows all over the country. Each customer is able to customize the classic silhouettes with the fabrics of your choice. Since each piece is personalized in length as well, this job taught me how to shop for different body types and that what looks good on some doesn't look good on all. The designer, Liz Hostetter, does an amazing job of bringing together fun fabrics to timeless pieces. I was able to learn a lot about how to not let classic become boring. Check out Liz Hostetter's amazing work at Elliekai.com.

This past summer, I also took up a second job at Details and Goods. This is a small boutique in the heart of Osterville MA. The owner, Marion Martignetti, has recently expanded and opened a store in Hingham, MA as well. If you're ever around either place, these are MUST shop locations. Her store carries high end local designers as well as well-known brands: Shoshana, Trina Turk, Peter England, Captiva Cashmere, White + Warren, ASHA, etc. Marion has an amazing personal style, and she brings it all to this small boutique store. I have learned a lot about how to keep style current and, yet, remain timeless. She taught me the difference between necessities and throw-aways. Necessities are staple items that one should spend a good deal of money on to get high quality. Throw-aways are more trendy or unique items that last one season and you are tired of. You should NOT open your wallet up too much for these items.

All of this working (and trust me, it was a lot) allowed me to develop my own style with great influence from my bosses, my coworkers, and Cape Cod itself. Now I'm here to show you all that I have learned and hopefully inspire someone else to share in my passion of letting out your inner beauty through your style.
